Buying Golf Clubs for a Beginner

by Andy Cabera

Playing golf is probably one of the favorite sports of many people. Despite the amount of money you have to shell out before playing golf, many people are being hooked into this particular sport, even young children.the young ones. Because unlike the more popular sports like soccer and basketball, golf is milder and can even get you in shape with minimal body movements. But before you hit the links and aspire to become the next Tiger Woods or the upcoming Lorena Ochoa, there are certain things that you have to consider first, like buying your golf clubs perhaps?

As we all know, you can't play golf without a set of drivers, wedges, putters, and irons. If you have just discovered the joys of the sport and want to improve your skills, you definitely have to buy the right set of golf clubs because it would help you learn quickly and help you with your swing.

Before you head out to the sports shop and buy all the things you need to enjoy a day at the golf course, you must consult people who have prior experience with the sport. They can give you a good advice on which clubs to choose for a beginner like you. You can also hit the driving range and try rental clubs so you can have an idea on which clubs are the most suited for you. In addition, surfing the Internet to read customer reviews on which brands are considered as a best purchase would definitely help you.

After you have gained enough confidence to purchase your very own golf clubs, you should try them out first. You must not rely on looks alone. Hold the golf club that has caught your attention and feel its weight in your hands. Try swinging it, too, so you can get a good feel of its flexibility.

Although they can cost extra bucks, choose clubs with shafts that are made from graphite because they are lighter and are most definitely suited for the novice golfer. Those with steel shafts, on the other hand, might give you a hard time when practicing your swing because they are a bit bulky. As for the club head, pick those that are made from stainless steel and have bigger sizes so you can send those golf balls flying at a greater distance.

But if you do not have extra money to purchase a complete set of clubs, you can always start out with what they call a half set. A half set of clubs is composed of five iron clubs, a pitching wedge, a sand iron, two woods, and a putter. You can also purchase used clubs so you can save quite a bit of money.

So choose the golf clubs that are the best for you and start practicing your swings. Who knows, you might be on your way towards becoming a golf star.
