If you're like most golfers, especially in colder weather states, you'll spend the winter months on the couch rather than beating balls on the range. There is no better way to stagnate that golf swing, everything you've worked for during that past golfing season.
And it doesn't have to be this way. With the number of excellent golf training aids on the market, you can make your living room a proverbial training facility. Provided you have high enough ceilings.
Think about the number of things you can train in the off season. You could grab one of those smaller weighted clubs and work on a specific swing key, or even the right stance. Whatever you do, keep yourself in golf improvement mode.
Spending too much time watching TV? How about doing some putting while you use the television as background noise while you hone that putting stroke? We all know how many strokes we'd save being a better putter.
Could your chipping game use a little work? Whose couldn't? I have a chipping and putting practice area set up inside my garage. My garage and a good space heater, you'd think you were in Florida. My golf game has really improved since I built my garage 'course'.
Think about this, after your playing partners see you putt and chip for lower scores, you just might have to find some new partners. They might even start asking you for playing advice.
Maybe your whole game needs a new direction, from putting all the way to your golf swing. How about picking up a book or video? Think about this, the author of the golf book probably improved a number of swings over the years. Yours could be the next one.
How about that new set of clubs? That old set just might make you that excited about the game anymore. Need some extra distance on that drive? The newest oversized drivers give you so much more yardage they should be illegal.
You can improve all facets of your golf game if you take action instead of not using the colder months appropriately for practice. Your golf game will be glad you took the initiative when next year rolls around. I know just what swing keys I'm going to work on and when. What will you work on? Go after the pin!
